2 New Mexico postcards, El Ortiz Hotel and New Mexico Art Museum

Top postcard - New Mexico Art Museum in Santa Fe....a monument to the Franciscan martyrs of the 17th and 18th centuries who endured untold sufferings, and gave their lives that their faith and civilization might be planted in the New  World.  It is a perfect type of the Mission Architecture of New Mexico which dates back to 1617, and antedating 152 years, the very oldest of California missions.  The building is used by the School of American Research as a treasure house of Southwestern art, beginning with the Indian of prehistoric times, and coming down to the American Artists of today.

The second post shows the El Cortiz Hotel in Lamy New Mexico....The hotel built of adobe brick, after the Spanish and Mexican styles of a hundred years ago, is indeed quaint and picturesque.  Lamy is a tiny village in the Glorietta Mountains midway between Albuquerque and Las Vegas.
(Comments taken from back of these two nice postcards available on eBay.)

Wooden Shoes - Children in a circle game or dance, Vintage Postcard

Maybe this is Ring Around the Rosie,  or such game.  If it involves running or chasing it might be a little difficult wearing those wooden shoes.  I had to go to online photographs today (well I am just lazy) so don't have the postcard in front of me so not sure if it is a Dutch Scene.  Anyway I like it.

Vintage Postcard Morning Glory Pool Yellowstone National Park

Morning Glory Pool in Yellowstone National Park.  This pool does have the shape of a Morning Glory flower.  But its hot so don't jump in.  Yellowstone is an amazing place although I am sure it has changed since I have not been there for 15 years.

Rving on the East Side of the Sierras

Even though I have a laptop, and wifi in the RV Park I did not do much on blogging or catching up on emails.  I did not even use my iPhone to take pictures as I have been there before.  But it was a great trip.  We spent the first and last night at Orange Grove RV park in Bakersfield California.  The first night 28 RVs checked in so when we stayed there again last Sat. night we wondered if we would beat their record counting them and would you believe 48 checked in.  All the snowbirds going home plus their was a group so that brought in about 10 or so.  Joey our new dog loves this park. What is neat about this park is that the spaces are in an old Orange Grove and you are allowed to pick the oranges and take them home.  Good dog run and lots of areas to work.

But she also likes Whiskey Flats RV Park in Hawthorne NV where we spent a night, and Boulder Creek RV Park we spent 2 nights.  Just drive up the road and you can see Mt. Whitney.  Unfortunately Joey got loose and ran away but I got her back after crossing the highway.   She would not come to me when I called her and it is very frustrating.  This happened while in a parking lot and we were trying to get her out for a walk. Otherwise she is a great traveling dog but I need to work on obedience.  A Dachshund mix...When picked up at SPCA they said she had a bullet in her leg so who knows her history.

So now back to the daily grind, washing clothes and unpacking the trailer.  Did sell items on ebay while traveling and now need to find some more old vintage postcards to sell or give as gifts.

Out with the old, damaged beat up etc and In with New!

I must have a 1000 postcards and some are damaged....I did not use my new fancy paper punch on anything but damaged postcards....trimmed, holes, tears, smeared ink, very dirty finger prints etc. so I am recycling the into these really nice tags.  So maybe you can bear to try a craft project with the old postcards you have (Be very select when studying condition)  If you don't have any to stamp or cut away you can buy these tags on eBay, just go to the right column and click on my eBay auctions.

Old Letters

One can collect old letters and enjoy them over and over. I have bookmarked some emailed letters but they just don't have the same charm. I even have printed some out and put in a file. But I like opening my special box that holds these old letters. Have you mailed a letter lately? If you decorate the envelope it makes it even more special. I think I had better write some friends today.
