Lazy Hazy summer days - enjoying Cracker Jack postcards

A quick "Blog" note before our nightly walk with Joey our dog.  Here on the west coast we are not having the extreme heats like the midwest and eastern states.  If it is 89 today that  is considered nice. I did some watering and weed pulling in the garden.  I discovered the other day that my Tarragon plant was eaten alive.  I have had it for 8 or 9 years but all the fragrant leaves were gone.  It might be a rabbit or maybe a gopher eating the plant from underneath.  We were thinking of going RVing in the Reno area but heard that this weekend was one of the busiest, many people taking off the whole 5 days for the Fourth of July.   So will just stay home.  As in many states the fire danger is extreme as its very dry here in California.   Time to sip some tea on the deck.

A CRACKER JACK POSTCARD - Here the bears are stirring up some sweet candy we call Cracker Jacks.  I still buy boxes of the treat once in awhile hoping for lots of the nuts.  The prices are not too exciting.

Do I really have to Wash these Clothes?

Rev  O Noc Brand of antique Washing Machine.  Erma may be telling everyone she finds it fun to help Mamma do the washing but I am not so sure about that.  Her facial expression shows she would rather be some where else.  At first I thought this little girl wrote this message but found another postcard online with the same message, same handwriting.
You have a chance to own this postcard as I have listed it on eBay

THESE ARE TWO DARING BEARS, but still snacking on Cracker Jacks  POEM READS

At Niagara Falls this daring bear

I'm sure no one his deed would share.

No thought of fear can call him back.

His thoughts are all of Cracker Jack.

This is so cute because of the bear riding in a cracker jack box.  NO 3 in series of 16

Postcard, Natural Bridge of Virginia

NATURAL BRIDGE in Virginia, is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, was surveyed by young George Washington in 1750.  It became the private property of Thomas Jefferson in 1774 by royal grant from King George III of England.  It is 215 feet in height, with the width of 100 feet and a span of 90 feet, and is an unique object of wonder and interest to all.
Right now I would not mind sitting under this natural arch and cooling my feet in the stream.

Postal History Cover King and Queen of England 1939 Railway Rail Service R.P.O.

This Postal History Cover is interesting, because it is postmarked Royal Train R.P.O. June 9 1939.  I chose it since it pictures Queen Elizabeth's II parents and it is the Royal Jubilee.  Pictured on this cover is King George VI and Queen Elizabeth I. Across the stamps are the words RAILWAY MAIL.

An interesting address....to Attorney Nelson H. Nichols Jr. of New Brunswick New Jersey. In 1963 he was appointed Executive Director of the Buffalo Urban League, an affiliate of the National Urban League a civil rights organization.

Advertising Postcard Colorful and Eye Catching

I love receiving mail from the Post Office.  And if its a postcard that's even better.  This postcard arrived a week or so ago and caught my eye.  It is from one of my favorite Auction Houses.  Morphy Auctions are online and in person and is high quality all the way.  In fact today they had a big auction (and yet another one tomorrow) with 86 lots of postcards.  Most were Santa Clauses and Halloween and the bids were high.  I did win two auctions though (alas not the H or Christmas) and look forward to sharing some on my blog and listing them online.

June is the Month for Weddings

Here is a lovely cabinet card of a young couple getting married.  I wish the couple was identified and where they were married, but most cabinet cards do not give this information unless the couple writes it on the back.  But I do know the photographer is from the Wollensak Studio in Milwaukee Wisconsin.
