Sun-Maid Growers of California, Raisins! Postcard (Kingsburg)

This postcard shows the different advertising trademarks over the years. Sun-Maids world famous trademark design was created in 1915 and while it has been modernized through the years it has always been based on the original pose by Lorraine Collett. Sun-Maid growers of California located in Kingsburg California is the world leader in the production and marketing of raisins and other dried fruit products.

We visited their plant in Kingsburg last week, but no tours are given. They have a nice gift shop where I bought a giant jar of chocolate covered raisins. Stop by and visit, off of Highway 99, but open only Monday through Friday. Closed on weekends.

Postcard Friendship Friday, Indian Chief, elderly woman and sand painting

This is the third large postcard I am sharing from my Native American collection. It does not identify this Indian Chief by tribe etc. There is a quote on the back of the postcard..."Here lived and loved another race of beings...The Indian of falcon glance and lion bearing." Charles Sprague
It is an oversized postcard of 6 inches by 9 inches. I wonder if the proud woman is his wife. (There are several Charles Spragues, one once being governor of Oregon, another a poet, humanitarian from the East Coast in the 1800's.)
I have included a photo of a sand Painting I bought from a live internet auction in New Mexico. I love the sand paintings from the Navajo Nation. This one is called FOUR SEASONS by E.B. Benally of New Mexico.

Thanks to Marie for hosting Postcard Friendship Friday. To see what others have shared go to

Navajo Land Large Postcard

Information on Back of Postcard
Navajo children and their watchful mothers. The gaily blanketed beast of burden a necessary adjunct to life in the vast distances of Southwest Country. Crushed velvet, turquoise and silver compliment the sun bronzed skin of the Navaho.
I think this Rembrant Postcard (Colorado Springs) is probably from the late 1950's early 1960's. About 5 1/2 in by 8 in.
