Saturday Yard Sale Finds

I went to a yard sale put on by the local high school.  I like to shop but I also like to support local causes.  I always can use an organizer so bought this folded fabric carryall with pockets.
I also found used greeting cards of cats!  I plan on recycling them making postcards and gift tags.
The last picture is of paper napkins also to be recycled.
Town was already jumping at 10 in the morning due to wonderful Spring weather.  Hmmm better hit the consignment store when I go grocery shopping.

A beautiful day

Sometimes it is just too nice outside to be inside working on auctions, blogs, etc  So outside I go to pull weeds,  walk the dog, wash the car or trailer and run errands to town.  First must toss the dirty clothes into the washer, and get out the vacuum....nah I am going outside to smell the flowers.

Harvesting in San Joaquin County Old Machinery California

Went looking for this postcard as I saw similar farm machinery this last weekend.  I went to the Antique Tractor show in Tulare California.  All kinds of activities, tractor and other vehicle parade, and the tractor pull.  I would guess this postcard is from th 1930s.

Masonic Lodge Hornitos California, RPPC Real Photo Postcard

Every year Hornitos California has a big flea market.  They open this Masonic Lodge to the public and it is amazing.  Postcards, correspondence and historical items from the town are on display.
According to the postcard.....This is the only Masonic Lodge in the state of California allowed to meet on the ground floor.  I guess the rest of the lodges must meet on the second floor.  I enjoyed touring the small building and the town.  It is usually the first Sunday in October.
I will be listing this postcard on eBay.

Looking for postcards to buy

I want to buy vintage 1900 - 1960 postcards that are unusual and in good condition.  They can either be mailed or not mailed.  Prefer USA postcards of street scenes, classic cars, route 66, motels and restaurants.  I will buy 1 postcard to a large collection.  Price must be right as I will be reselling them.  I will pay a good price for a rare postcard.  I will also consider Holiday postcards of Santa Claus, Halloween and others if extra nice.  I will consider any postcard.

Human Like Cats aboard a double decker bus. A. Mainzer so cute!!!

Such detail in this A. Mainzer postcard.  The double decker bus is loaded with cats, dressed as humans.  They even look like they are behaving as humans.  This postcard was printed in Spain probably after 1965.

Spring has Sprung Lovely Bluebird

I wish I could take pictures of birds like this!  But I do have Bluebirds in the area and love watching them.  They usually fly in pairs and look for worms.  They do not have any interest in my bird feeders.  I now have 2 tiny birds (I think maybe a wren or warbler) finishing a nest they built last year.  They never used it last year when completed so I hope there are eggs this year.  Of course I just know its the same 2 birds.  They have wondering singing voices.

Wishing a Happy Easter to everyone, sharing postcard with singing chicks.

I would like to share an Easter Postcard for this special Holiday.  I love the way the chickens are singing away.  It is a beautiful day outside and I have already walked the dog.  It should be about 73 and I can see myself sitting on the deck soaking in the sun.  I remember as a young girl hunting for candy Easter Eggs inside the house in the morning, and then hunting for hard boiled eggs outside. Sometimes the neighbor children would join in.  My sisters and I had new Easter outfits that my Mother would sew for us.

Magnet collection Cranberry Spring Recipe and more

I have these magnets on my file cabinet.  Some are made from copied old postcards, one is from copied cabinet card (cropped) and one old one I made years ago. Quilled flowers (the art of paper curling)

Tulip Salads.......
3 packages cream cheese
2 T mayonnaise
2 T lemon juice, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup crushed pineapple
1/2 C chopped walnuts
3 diced bananas, 3/4 C heavy cream whipped CRANBERRY CUTOUTS
Beat cream cheese, mayonnaise, lemon juice, and salt together with electric mixer.  Add pineapple, nuts, bananas.  Fold in whipped cream then cubes of jellied cranberry sauce.  Turn into loaf pan that has been rinsed out in cold water.  Chill until firm about 3 hours.  Slice, place each slice on lettuce bed and top with cranberry sauce cut-outs made with a tulip cutter.  Serve with fruit salad dressing.  Makes 6 to 8 services.
(my tip, you could cut out tulip shape with a knife)
Recipe from Vol 8, No. 11 of "Notes from The Cranberry Kitchen"
