In this blog I wish to share postcards from my collection with others, as there are many different catagories of postcards. I also will share what I am currently selling on Ebay. I like selling, buying and trading postcards. The Plus in the title is for the handcraft items I make and collect. Also for all the ephemera I collect.

Paper Doilies - Do you ever use them?
If you shop at yard sales there always seem to be paper doilies on hand. Its like people buy them with good intentions for some use. Thats what I did last week. I bought somee As a kid I use to take them out and color in the swirls and other decoratve designs. Or I would cut them up for greeting cards. I have no idea what I will do with them but they came in this vintage box from the 50's and I liked that. So probably when I have a yard sale I will put this box of paper doilies out on the table.

Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges New York1911 Postcards
There is so much information online about the two bridges of New York, The Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. I love the way the Brooklyn Bridge has a frame around the scene in the first postcard. http://www.endex.com/gf/buildings/bbridge/bbridge.html This is a great site about the Brooklyn Bridge.
The Manhattan Bridge was the last of the 3 suspension bridges to be built and opened in 1909. More information can be found on wikipedia.

Estate Sale Finds Vintage Buttons and Santa die cuts
Went to a great estate sale and bought 3 bags of old buttons. There were some very nice ones in the mix. Here I have been washing them and admiring my finds.
These die cuts were printed in Germany and sold at Cost Plus for 39 cents. I got them for a quarter. I would write more but I think there is one more yard sale to hit.

See 'Em Alive Zoo Red Lodge Montana Postcards Postcard Friendship Friday
When mining declined in Red Lodge Montana local residents tried to bring tourists to the area. The See 'em Alive Zoo had 47 species of game for the visitor to view. The bottom postcard showing the building with cars was copyrighted in 1946 otherwise I am not sure when the park opened. Admission for adults was 10 cents, and for children 5 Cents.
Written on the back of the card it reads The 'See "Em Alive Zoo in Montana has over 200 native wild animals and birds. Located on the outsirts of Red Lodge on the new scenic Route No 12, Northeast Entrance to Yellowstone Park.
The postcard of the Buffalo is at a zoo called the Red Lodge Zoo. I am not sure if these are the same 2 zoos. The Red Lodge Zoo opened in 1928 and covers 7 1/2 acres of over 200 animals and birds. From the mentioning of 200 animals on both cards I assume they were the same.
I have visited Red Lodge several times and do not remember seeing any zoo! But if you go there a tour of the prison (closed to prisoners) is well worth it. A beautiful part of Montana.
NOTE: Due to my busy schedule I decided to submit Thursdays entry as my Postcard for Postcard Friendship Friday To see more go to

Harrahs Club Lake Tahoe, Nevada Stateline Old cars, Chevys, Pontiacs + More Postcard
State Line at Lake Tahoe the gambling section of Tahoe in Nevada as viewed from California. Absolutely love the cars in this postcard, Chryslers, Buick, Oldsmobile, Chevy, Mercury and Cadillac.
I was lucky on this last trip I took. I actually found postcards on the road. The first I found were in Lima Montana. I also picked up a wonderful 1925 issue of Better Homes and Garden. Then I found some vintage hankerchiefs (shared below) in Mountain Home Idaho. The most postcards including this one of Tahoe I found at an antique store in Dillon Montana. So I am home for awhile listing away on ebay. If interested in this postcard just look up papel1 for auctions.

Havana - Baseball novel with a storyline of Cuba by Darryl Brock
What does one enter on a blog while RVing, short on space, well I would usually look for postcards but did not find any vintage ones, but some neat new ones. But while shopping at Dollar Tree I managed to find a book with a picture of a postcard on the cover! Now how likely is that. Well I needed something to fit the title of my blog Judys Postcards Plus. This looks like an interesting book to read!! Its baseball season so a story about playing baseball in the early 20th century looks good.
