Waterloo, the Lion, Friendship Postcard Friday

FRIENDSHIP POSTCARD FRIDAY
Waterloo, the Lion, Belgium

The mound is 45 meters in height and there are 226 steps to the top. The lion which rests there was made there by Cockerill with the metal from all the cannons captured by the Allies. No my French isn't better, translation on back with comments by sender. The sheep look happy and content. Check out Maries blog for PFF http://www.cpaphilblog.com/

Nice postcard!
As an aside, this postcard reminds me of the Hugh Grant movie "The Englishman who went up a hill and came down a mountain" :)

Happy PFF!

Didn't exactly beat their swords into plowshares, did they? Odd (and somewhat metaphorical) to have a lion standing guard over sheep.

Waterloo! You know that because of my Napoleon obsession this one makes my heart flutter! That is so wild to have a canon made mound. Happy PFF!

Not something you could miss easily! I presume it's still there. I love postcards that show some history.
