Merced River, Yosemite National Park, California, Postcards

This is the time of year to visit Yosemite National Park.  The snow is melting, and the waterfalls are spilling over.  These 2 postcards show the Merced River in Yosemite Valley.  The card on the left shows how the river will be rushing in April.  The card shows a quieter river probably in late summer.  

1946 Envelope mailed from Van Nuys California by Helicopter

First thing I noticed about this cover is that they spelled it "Heliocoptor"  I think it is a mistake as I can not find that spelling online anywhere.  Fun message written as............Hello Friends! This is a First Flight Air Mail Letter direct from Van Nuys, the Capital of the great San Fernando Valley.  There is Link below photograph where you can find other Helicoptor covers.

Teddy Bears on Paper by Susan Brown Nicholson

 Here is a book I cannot live without since I collect Postcards.  Teddy Bears on Paper is by Susan Brown Nicholson and is a carefully researched text and price guide about Teddy Bear Graphics on antique paper items.  Most of the pages are for postcards.  I go to eBay, Ruby Lane, Etsy everyday and search for Bear Postcards.  Then I look up the postcard in the very useful index page to research that card.  I find many of them. I then can see if they are worth anything but its the additional information that is given about that postcard, publisher or artist that is useful.  Published in 1985 and reasonably priced on Amazon.  I am not selling my copy!

If you like making Scrapbooks, get out those materials and make Easter Cards

If you have Scrapbook supplies piled up around your house it is time to make some Easter Cards.  A few pretty sheets of paper, a couple of rubber stamps, a paper punch will do the job.  Oh yes some card stock, ribbon and glue will help too.  Make an envelope and pop it in the mail for a friend.

The weekend is coming

I still have been rather inactive as that darned pulled tooth acted up but I think I am finally getting back to normal.  I have been playing with the Samsung tablet and downloaded a few games.  I am not sure I am a great fan of the Angry Birds, it is sort of fun.  Now I am trying 4 pics 1 words and a version of Scrabble.  I did download UStream so can watch some live video type shows.  But this morning I am in my recliner with the netbook which is easier to use.

I have rather neglected eBay but the break has been nice.  I feel like working in the garden and after some rain it is suppose to be 70 by next week.  Yea.  I mostly have herb plants but I need to cut back the plants.  I think I might add some flowers and hopefully the rabbits will stay away.  I wish my cats would catch those gophers.  I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Sorry I have neglected my blog but I had a tooth extracted and I have not been feeling that well.  I am finally starting to feel a little better, but there is still some pain.  Also bought a Samsung Galaxy 7 inch tablet.  I like it but think I prefer my Acer netbook even my Apple iPhone.
