Postcard Friendship Friday - The Auto Log Sequoia Nat'l Park CA

The Auto Log in Sequoia National Park, today!
BELOW
Car Parked on the Auto Log during the era of 1920 through 1940.

Cars were originally banned from the National Parks but in 1910 the policy changed. Tourists could pretty much park and camp where they pleased. I found a number of photographs of cars on this tree and it must have been a popular place for posed pictures.

I have seen lots of cards of cars driving through trees, but none of cars on trees. The Ken Burns series has re-awakened my interest in the Nat'l parks. Very nice!

I also have many cards of cars in the drive-through tree, but none on top of a tree.

That is incredible. Remember how people used to pose their children in front of the family car to take pictures. Why did we stop doing that?

Like the others, I've heard of the cars driving through a tree, but never on one. If it's called the Auto Log it must be quite a known feature.
