Montana Postal History Covers late 1800s. Twin Bridges Postmark State Orphan Home

The Montana State Orphan's Asylum was established by the 1893 legislature for the "care and education of orphans, foundlings, and destitute children". The Asylum was governed by a board of five trustees, who were empowered to select a suitable site at Twin Bridges, to adopt rules for the governance of the home, and to hire a superintendent and a matron. The superintendent would, in turn, hire nurses, attendants, and others. The trustees were also authorized to establish schools and vocational training shops.

Any child under the age of 12 was eligible for admission, and children 12 and over if it was deemed advisable by the Board. When the Board determined it was suitable, children could be placed in private homes. Over the years, a large percentage of children at the home were not orphans, but were children who for a variety of reasons could not be cared for by their parents.

In 1959 the home was renamed the Montana Children's Center. The Center closed in 1979.

My Father at a Stamp Convention Los Angeles California - Started my collection of Postal History Covers

Many years ago my Dad collected USA Postage Stamps  He is the Gentleman on the LEFT.  Years later he discovered that finding stamps on an old envelopes was even more interesting.  The Stamps were not removed and the whole envelope was collected.  It did not matter if there were no contents although that could make that more interesting...He started a collection of Postal History Covers for me where I lived.  Living in the Gold Rush Country of California I received a lot of interesting covers.  My  collections also included Postcards, Trade Cards and other pieces of interesting paper items.  I use to see him looking at old covers over and over and thought how boring.  He would be pleased if he knew how now I sit on the sofa looking at pieces of history with a magnifying glass.

Is there a Singer Maryland? Postmarked on a postcard 1904

I have this Postal Card addressed to Baltimore but written and mailed FROM Singer, Maryland.  I googled it but could not find it.  Maybe someone knows where Singer is or was.
