Sunday Postcard Art - MONA IN ART

The weekly challenges over at Sunday Postcard Art are great. This weeks guest artist is Fatma and her theme is Mona in Art. http://sundaypostcardart.wordpress.com/

I took a piece of glossy photo paper and took my printers roller and ran it over a stamp pad. This created the pinkish background. All of the designs/pictures are from a royalty free clip art program I subscribe to online. I printed them out then cut then arranged collage style on the 6 by 4 inch postcard.

Stamp Something Red, White and Blue Challenge MAGNETS

Stamp Something has changed their challenge this week. You are to make anything but a CARD and to celebrate Independence Day use Red, White and Blue. When looking through my craft drawer I found some small sheets of magnets so decided to make refrigerator magnets. They measure 2 1/2 in by 3 1/2 in. Not sure where my stamps came from. They were part of a grab bag that has been sitting in a drawer for awhile.

Button and Brads Card Challenge

Well I haven't used brads too often and will have to learn to put them in straight. I was making this card for a friend when I saw a challenge (http://ourcreativecorner6.blogspot.com/) using a button and a brad. So I added the carved delicate white button on the scottie dog (made from an old piece of quilt) and attached 2 brads below the sticker I used "It's Your Special Day." The mini brads are made by Doodlebug Design Inc.

I love the words and illustrations in this little booklet (3 in. by 4 1/2 in) published by the Dairy Council of Chicago, 1951. Times sure have changed. There are about 4 or 5 more pages in the booklet, menu planning, and the afternoon snack.

Stamp Something Friday Challenge

I enjoyed working on this challenge using a favorite stamp of a girl enjoying summer fun, maybe at a pool or at the beach. Its an older stamp by Stampacadabra. Then I got to play with my new tool a Scraparatus by Karen Foster. Its great for setting eyelets and brads. Still getting use to getting the eyelets straight. So the porpoise is upside down. They do jump a lot.

The words Thinking of You were printed on the computer on muslin. I just spray some glue on a piece of muslin and place it on plain paper and run it through. Its tricky and can be messy but its an older printer so I take chances.

All these pieces are glued on a 5 1/2 in by 5 1/2 inch square card.

Artist Signed Postcard H. B. Griggs 1912

I love this postcard! It looks like the stars are painted with Gold. Even though the postcard is well handled with spots its really charming. Its signed H.B.G. but I found out the last name of Griggs in a book. I do not know much about this artist.
