Vintage Cabinet Card, 2 men posing but what does he have in his hand?

Look carefully at this cabinet card, study the details then read my comments below the photo.

First, it looks like these two men are posing in a church by looking at the stained glass window behind them.  The young man at the left is wearing a boutinerre of some sort.  Maybe he is the groom at a wedding.  It's the guy on the right that intrigues me.  He also has a flower pinned to his vest, even a tie.  I wonder why the apron or piece of cloth around his waist.  Is he ready to serve something?  I have looked at this photo many times but last night I noticed that he is holding a bottled drink in his hand.  It almost looks like a bottle of beer.

This is why I like postcards and other ephemera.  Always a mystery to be solved.  What do you think?

My Flea Market Finds

We went to the second annual Radio Tradeo Garage Sale at the Madera Calif Fairgrounds sponsored by KMJ Radio Station Fresno.  I did not find any postcards but some nice embroidery transfer sheets and some handmade embroidered items.

I found a bag of goodies which had embroidery thread and I could see a pattern transfer sheet or two.  These lovely Carousel horses are from an Aunt Martha's Hot Iron Transfer. I did not see them in the bag so with 4 other samples it was a nice surprise.  I also have the pattern sheets.  Fun to find someone elses embroidery.

You can always find Aunt Martha's Hot Transfer Patterns at garage sales.  These cute girls are similar to Sunbonnet Sue.

Vintage Magazines from Bottles, Womans World to Mad Magazine

Here is a collection of some of the older vintage magazines

This National Bottle Gazette was published in 1968 in the interests of bottle collectors and bottle clubs everywhere.  A newsletter of 8 pages out of Amador City California

This issue is July 1935 and sold for 10 cents.  The advertisements are as interesting as the short stories,  handicraft projects and Health articles.

And of course there is the zany crazy MAD Magazine this ussue of Sept 1964

Thinking Spring and maybe doing a few craft projects and pulling weeds.

I know I have shared this postcard before, but I think we are all enjoying spring and getting out in our gardens.  Maybe I had better start pulling those weeds.

West Palm Beach Florida 1936 Vintage Postcard Poinciana Hotel

Looking westward over the gardens and docks of the Royal Poinciana Hotel.  Palm Beach  across Lake Worth and toward the new skyline of West Palm Beach.  The latter city incorporated as a town in 1894. now has grown into a metropolis of 50,000 permanent residents. (Information on back of this 1936 postcard)

Another nice postcard  from Florida of Hollywood Beach Hotel with Palms and pretty flowers.

Exaggeration Postcard Dinnertime In Maine Lobster on giant plate 1953

Message on the back reads.......We had a Lobster to eat one day and it looked about this big - We even saw them get popped in the boiling water - They really turned red in a hurry.
