Happy December

Where I live it is above the Fog and Below the snow. Or so the Newspaper has for a slogan. And today I was glad to live above the fog. While visibility was 1/4 of a mile even in the late morning down below me, I enjoyed the sunshine. Once in awhile the fog will creep up and we do get snow once in awhile. Now it is time to get my Christmas boxes out of storage. I know the first thing I must find is my advent calendar. We already put up outside lights. We went with rope lights, as I always hated putting up those messy string of lights. And for the windows we put up lighted decorations which lie close to the glass. I will have lots of wreaths up but no tree. The cat would knock it over. Speaking of the cat he crawled out of his harness and is hiding under the deck. I must go get him before the coyotes or road kill gets him.

Thanksgiving Reverie Vintage Postcard

When you've finished the turkey and stuffing

And sit quietly down for a doze,

With heart and mind in repose.

Just remember the feast is as nothing

Its the good folks at home give it flavor

For feasts far from home lack the savor

I love the serving girl carring the platter. I don't think the turkey will be too happy.

Favorite Garden Stepping Stone

Just stopping by to say hello to all my Blogging Friends. I have had other irons in the fire so haven't been making any daily entries or entering any challenges. I am now sitting by the fire with this new laptop but do not have many pictures on it to share.. I do like the Picasa Program which is installed on this laptop, and their button you just click to get to Blog This. I am feeling a little sad because one of the deer that hangs around here was hit on the highway last night. This happens a lot but I always feel bad. And we use to have a wild peacock visit daily for bird seed but he seems to have disappeared. He has been around for years so hopefully he is OK or died naturally. Other visiters are possoms, racoons, bear, bobcats (rare) and coyotes. But country living is great because I had no line in front of me when voting. We had much needed rain and now it is cool and crisp outside. Happily Ebay sales have picked up for me and I need to list more postcards. So back to the desktop. I love wifi.

Cabelas Worlds Foremost Outfitter

I have been to two Cabela's and love these stores. This postcard shows the Cabelas located in Owatonna, Minnesota and is one of the many catalog showrooms around the country. Cabelas is well known for its catalog featuring hunting, fishing and other outdoor gear. All of their stores have this wonderful decor. Inside are stuffed wild animals and other great displays. Its a dream world for the outdoors person. You can buy whats in the catalogs plus lots more.
